Well, the time has finally come for the last Volvo blog post challenge. As I think back over the past few months, a few things really stick out about this experience.
1. I’ve loved meeting new people and following tweets and messages from people I wouldn’t normally interact with. It’s been great to be engaged on Twitter and Facebook with new people. I even received special Valentine’s Day wishes.
2. I’ve learned a lot more about basketball. (Although, kind of like how driving me crazy is little more than a walk to the mailbox, considering where I started, it didn’t take too much to expand my sports vocabulary.)
3. I’m most definitely a bigger basketball fan after this season. Engaging with other people during the season kept me a lot more involved in the schedule and the rankings.
4. I am in awe of Austin Freeman.
5. I miss driving nice cars. Did you know that the mirrors on the VolvoS60 turn in when you park the car? Do you have any idea how many busted mirrors that would have saved me in college? (Well, it’s actually just the one, but it was a really expensive mirror.) Seat warmers? Also a big plus.
All in all, this experience has been a big challenge for me. I live pretty far from my Alma mater, my 10-year reunion is coming up, so I’m not exactly the youngest alumna, and sports blogging isn’t my area of expertise. But, it’s also been great to test myself and stretch beyond my comfort zone. I’m very thankful for this opportunity and glad to have been part of it.
As we all know, I love a good story, and anything new can make for a good story.
P.S. Voting is still open.
